Each butterfly is 15 cm long. The wooden hoop on which they are attached has a diameter of 18 cm. The butterflies have different attachment heights. The purpose here is to give the baby depth perception. Thanks to the gentle air created by the baby’s hand movements, the mobile moves. In this way, the child develops and integrates movement information and balance. This supports one of the basic teachings of the Montessori method: teaching cause and effect through natural materials and observation, instead of noise-producing devices powered by a battery.
